CHRISTIAN COMMENTARY, NEWS, AND ANALYSIS ON IMPORTANT SOCIAL-LEGAL ISSUES
  /    /  NEWS JOURNALS, ARTICLES

Here you will find a variety of informative articles speaking from a Christ-honoring viewpoint on current events and the hard-hitting social-legal issues of our day (note actual names of publications, or any proper names of a news-provider’s publications sections on its site, are shown in italics, instead of “ “). Naturally, we include some blog-styled articles and news services in this space, since many news journals, periodicals and magazines today adopt that style (see also our highest blog selections in the SELECT BLOGS Square)

(1) Primary Sources

Breakpoint Articles (Colson Center for Christian Worldview)
These are usually transcriptions of the Breakpoint Podcasts, but these short, pithy, blogish posts cover everything from historical Christian thought on politics (Constantine, Augustine, etc.) to current events in US and International news. It’s a storehouse on biblical Christian worldview on important social-legal issues.

Center for Public Justice (CPJ), Articles (US, International)
CPJ’s Articles are somewhat a cross between Scholarly Articles (short, well-informed, yet without standard citations to authorities), and News Articles, cast in an informational Blog style. CPJ categorizes its Articles and other resources into several generally helpful, yet overlapping, categories, including for: (1) Students and Scholars; (2) Faith-based organizations (ministries, etc.), and (3) Advocates and Policymakers (to name some). International subjects, current events and policy-analysis are all covered in its Articles.

The Christian Institute (CI) | Publications (Essays, Articles) (UK) [See also Scholarly Journals, Articles Square, Subset (2)]

This is a solid compilation of short and long articles or essays on important issues (in an online magazine-style, with pdf downloads, and including some citations to authority). Some CI Articles and Essays also delve into specific current events issues and legislation, especially in the UK, and occasionally also internationally (see, i.e., issues on transgender identity, human life and embryology laws, among others). CI’s Publications will also connect you to its many other resources (like books, guides, and it’s helpful Newsletter).

The Christian Institute | News (& News Archives)
Here we see CI’s shortest news items, covering events not only in the UK, but globally, from a Christian worldview (i.e., gender, abortion, the Church, parental rights, suicide, and many more subjects).

Christianity Today (US, International)
A Christian viewpoint magazine covering a variety of topics, including social issues, church life, discipleship, politics, and more. It includes investigative reports also; sometimes a bit too controversial in its coverage.

Comment, In Brief (Theos Think Tank, UK)
“Insights & reflections that enrich the conversation about religion and society.” (from its website). Comment, In Brief has shorter articles, for a quick look at the issues. For longer articles (Scholarly Articles and 50+ Research Reports) see Comment, In Depth in our Scholarly Journals, Articles Set (Subsets (2) and (3)). Subjects covered include: gender ideology, Church- State relations, immigration, law, economic development and many more.

Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), Publications / Programs

EPPC employs a unique system of subject-themed Programs with an assortment of mixed-media resources, including Journal-styled Articles, Videos, Audios, Interviews, covering many important social issues, such as law, culture, and politics, all presented from a Judeo-Christian tradition. These Programs include Publications, ranging from short, Scholarly Articles to opinion Blogs and News (on several current events). Search all such resources, using either the Publications or Programs links above (but we think Programs is best to search).

Ezra Institute (EI), Articles by Topic (33+ Topics)

This has several topics including, Theology, Apologetics, Law, Politics, Education, and so many more; some articles have citations to authority, although the style is mostly bloggish; authors are Joseph Boot, the founder, and several others; said Articles previously appeared in the publication, Jubilee (see EI’s older posts)

Faith & Freedom (Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD))

It’s a, “Faith based commentary on the intersection between faith and freedom in the contemporary world.” (from the website); Faith and Freedom covers several interesting topics, such as, Marriage, Life, Religious Liberty, Sexuality & LGBTQ+, War, Immigration, the Environment, and the Middle East, from a Chrisitan point of view. It’s similar to an online, periodical-styled magazine, and is issued four times a year. [See also IRD’s capstone publication, Providence, with elements of both a Scholarly Journal and a News Journal in our Scholarly Journals Set.]

International Family News (Internaional Organization for the Family (IOF))
A strong and wide range of news stories and international current events affecting life and family issues, including: Gender Ideology, LGBTQ+, Parental Rights, Euthanasia, Cultural Marxism, and Victims of these ideologies. Stories shared are informative, sometimes shocking the conscience, and call us to action and prayer; a strong read for those seeking international information.

CPJ-Articles (Shared Justice, etc.)
This wide Articles collection from CPJ, is actually a consolidation of its past journals, such as Shared Justice and Public Justice Review, along with some others. All are searchable by filters and topics, covering a very wide range of issues; some are more scholarly in nature and some are more blog-styled. Shared Justice is a section and program catering to millennials and students exploring the intersection of faith and politics, and seems to tilt in a younger, more progressive direction. As a cautious caveat, a hint of that leaning seems it may be appearing in CPJ’s viewpoints in its work as a whole (see comments in INDEPENDENT SCITTS).
