Advocates International (AI) champions religious liberty and advocates for persecuted Christians worldwide. It serves as a vital resource and community hub for legal professionals, activists, and advocates committed to defending the rights of individuals facing religious persecution. Through comprehensive information, resources, and global initiatives, AI empowers others to uphold justice and support those marginalized due to their faith. AI fosters collaboration and mobilization across borders, emphasizing the importance of legal advocacy in protecting religious freedoms and promoting tolerance ( excerpted in part from its website). It also works in several other service areas, from anti-corruption and pro-life and family concerns to rights of the poor and needy, and peace and reconciliation (see icon areas above).

It has a Global Advocacy Alliance, to keep international advocates connected, and has seminars and training through Arete ́ Academy and offers several opportunities for involvement.
The ACLJ and its globally affiliated organizations are committed to ensuring the ongoing viability of freedom and liberty in the United States and around the world. The organization also works ardently on sanctity of life and protection of biblical marriage and families against secularists’ attacks.
Americans United for Life (AUL) defends human life through vigorous legislative, judicial, and educational efforts. Although American based, it has several international allies indicated on its site.
It seeks to protect the free expression of all religious traditions. It’s actually a wide-reaching law firm committed to this work. It has some information useful for international contexts.
The Christian Institute exists for “the furtherance and promotion of the Christian religion in the United Kingdom’ and ‘the advancement of education’. The Christian Institute is a nondenominational Christian charity committed to upholding the truths of the Bible.” In addition to education and analysis on legal and policy issues, it engages in advocacy and offers legal assistance through its Legal Defense Fund. It offers free legal counsel to churches and Christians facing legal difficulties for practicing the biblical faith.
It provides “long-term, hope-filled solutions for survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation” (from the website). It is involved in training judges, police, and prosecutors in helping reach that end.
Compassion is a Christ-centered organization that seeks to lift children out of poverty, generally by sponsorship of children through caring individuals and partners. It seeks to stop abuse and exploitation of children through preventative justice programs, and intervenes if injustices are present.
Focus on the Family Policy Alliance Foundation is a cultural action organization that provides a platform for informing, inspiring and rallying those who care deeply about the family to greater involvement in the moral, cultural and political issues that threaten our world. Its site includes international stories and issues.
The FRC serves as a prominent platform dedicated to promoting traditional family values and advocating for religious freedom, sanctity of life, and strong national defense. It offers insightful analysis, research, and resources on policy issues related to family, faith, and freedom, aiming to influence public policy and cultural norms through education and advocacy. With a focus on defending religious liberties and advancing conservative viewpoints, FRC equips supporters and policymakers with information to shape legislative and societal outcomes. It is said to be the largest US organization dedicated only to Religious Liberty. Its analysis may be useful for international applications.
Food for the Hungry works in more than 26 developing countries: “We provide disaster and emergency relief and implement sustainable development programs to transform communities physically and spiritually.” ( from its website ).
The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) website serves as a global platform uniting evangelical Christians around the world. It focuses on promoting unity, advocating for religious freedom, and addressing social justice issues from a biblical perspective. Through collaborative efforts with churches, organizations, and individuals, WEA works to empower and mobilize the global evangelical community to engage in issues such as human rights, poverty alleviation, and environmental stewardship. It provides resources, news updates, and opportunities for networking to support its mission of advancing the gospel and serving humanity.
GTN is active in 50 countries and is part of the Statesmen Project. It does training and networking of local teams “to develop long-term, 7-sphere strategic plans to transform their nations,” for Christ, including in the government sphere. GTN is “[a]n Alliance of local Community Action Councils to disciple nations.” (quotes from its website). See also in SCITTS.
GTP “multiplies disciples of faithful administration and mobilizes peer accountability groups to increase gospel participation in every nation.” GTP is committed to coaching and improving ethical financial stewardship of churches and ministries in the Body of Christ, and in some cases, business, and other sectors in a nation. It has grown out of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA, in the USA), which is a solid accrediting organization in this important area of Christian stewardship. Anti-corruption should first be emulated in the Church.
Hagar works to heal and restore people who have suffered the trauma of trafficking, sexual, and other abuse. It often means they partner with others on legal issues. They work in numerous locations in S.E. Asia, including Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam.
HAND stands for, “Humanitarian Assistance Network for Development,” and does just that: everything from hydroponics and capacity building, to helping sex-trafficking victims, and improving justice systems in communities.
Heartbeat International is the first network of pro-life pregnancy resource centers founded in the U.S. (1971), and it is now the most expansive network in the world. Heartbeat has over 2,500 affiliated pregnancy help locations including pregnancy help medical clinics (with ultrasound), resource centers, maternity homes, and adoption agencies in around 62 countries around the world to provide alternatives to abortion.

The International Institute for Religious Freedom (IIRF) serves as a pivotal resource in the global effort to safeguard religious freedom. Dedicated to research, advocacy, and education, IIRF works collaboratively with scholars, policymakers, and advocates worldwide to address challenges and promote understanding of religious freedom issues. Through publications, conferences, and strategic partnerships, the institute aims to advance tolerance, protect minority rights, and support those facing persecution due to their beliefs. IIRF offers valuable insights, resources, and updates on global religious freedom developments, empowering individuals and organizations to actively defend this fundamental human right. International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. It works collaboratively with government ministries and agencies to weed out systemic injustice, thus improving rule of law and tangible justice for the oppressed.
“IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.” Although not a Chrisitian organization, it cooperatively works with many ministries and religious organizations, as needed around the world (it is in many countries).
Jubilee Campaign is an effective human rights pressure group that tackles the cause of injustice and has been successful at bringing real and lasting change for Children at Risk and persecuted Christian families worldwide. This includes refugees and helping to stop child sacrificing in superstitious religions in Africa. In addition to serving children at risk, Jubilee Campaign serves Christian families suffering persecution.
“JVI partners with local organizations and global stakeholders to eradicate human trafficking and other extreme injustices by securing justice for individuals.” (from its website). They are in India and yet globally focused.
Not a Christian organization per se, but useful on migratory labor and attendant justice concerns, especially in Asia. From its website: “Justice Without Borders creates transnational lifelines to legal aid for victims of labor exploitation and human trafficking. We enable victims to seek rightful compensation from their abusers, even after returning home. Our offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia are developing the networks, knowledge and know-how needed to make cross-border access to justice for migrant worker victims possible.”
Not a Christian organization but a useful one. LWOB works specifically on Rule of Law and Anti-corruption, through nation-building projects, including training for electoral supervision, in-court trial skills assistance, capacity building in justice sectors, and human rights work. It manages and trains pro bono volunteer lawyers relying on its connections with international law firms around the world. It has offices in Washington, D.C., London, and Kenya.
“Liberty Counsel Action’s mission is to advance religious freedom, the sanctity of human life, the family, responsible government, national security, and support for Israel through education and advocacy on the national, state and local levels.” (from its website). It seems LC is interested in some international operations, especially through its missions tab, and as an advocate for Israel.
An anti-abortion, pro-life and pro-liberty advocacy group, covering stories and issues, including international situations. “Our mission is to give innocent and helpless human beings of any age, particularly babies in the womb, a trained and committed defense against the threat of death, and to support their advocates in the nation’s courtrooms.” (from their website).
A leading life-supporting publication, featuring issues from abortion, to euthanasia, suicide, and stem cell research. It has a variety of good articles on all life-affirming topics, and on the family; available (free) subscriptions are for daily or weekly news, and it includes U.S. and International articles. This is a pro-life news organization, providing comprehensive information through articles, podcasts, blogs, research and more, on such important issues as abortion, assisted suicide, stem-cell issues, and related family issues. It has international features and news; largely affiliated with the Catholic perspective. Featuring blogs of John-Henry Westen. Advocacy through its published information and more.
Love Does is an organization serving in six countries (Uganda, Nepal, India, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan). It especially helps children in conflict zones with educational needs, and works on a variety of other things, such as anti-trafficking law-related work in India. Love Does is led by its founding lawyer and author, Bob Goff (author of Love Does and other works).
LJI is an organization dedicated to stopping human trafficking and the most severe kinds of slavery and injustices. This includes putting traffickers in jail, and caring for the most vulnerable. Unique in its approach, LJI uses training and implements actual INTERCEPTIONS of traffickers at key border locations. It operates in several (15) countries (formerly Tiny Hands, International).
The NLF is a Christian public interest law firm dedicated to the preservation of America’s freedom and constitutional rights. Visitors to their website can read for themselves many of the briefs that NLF has filed in cases throughout the US.
“The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) advocates for the preservation of traditional marriage and family values in the United States. It serves as a leading voice in promoting marriage between one man and one woman as the cornerstone of a stable society. Through education, grassroots activism, and legal advocacy, NOM engages supporters in defending marriage laws and policies that reflect these values.” (from its website). The website provides resources, news updates, and opportunities for involvement in campaigns and legislative efforts aimed at upholding traditional marriage and religious liberties.
“Open Doors USA is a community of Christians who come together to support persecuted believers in more than 60 countries.” (from its website). Known for its work and reporting around the world, Open Doors is also an advocacy group, working on behalf of persecuted Christians. It has U.S. and international field offices.
Pacific Justice Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties. Pacific Justice Institute works diligently, without charge, to provide its clients with all the legal support they need. While California based, its experience can be useful in some international contexts.

Rooted in Christian principles, the organization collaborates with local partners to address social issues such as poverty, injustice, and relational brokenness. Through innovative approaches and practical solutions, Reconciled World fosters sustainable change by promoting education, economic empowerment, and community development. The website showcases impactful stories, resources, and opportunities for engagement, inviting individuals and organizations to join in efforts that restore dignity and promote flourishing communities.
“Prison Fellowship International is called and dedicated to communicating the redemptive love and transforming power of Jesus Christ to prisoners, ex-prisoners, their families, and victims of crime around the world.” Their vision is “To break the cycle of crime and restore lives, worldwide, through Jesus’s love.” (quotes from website). This ministry was launched by Chuck Colson.
“Pro-Life Global is a dedicated platform that advocates for the protection of human life from conception to natural death worldwide. It serves as a hub for education, resources, and activism, uniting individuals and organizations committed to advancing the sanctity of life” (from its website) Pro-Life Global is a uniquely student-led action organization and movement. Students are the driving force for its campaigns.
“The Refugee Highway Partnership (RHP) is an international network of churches, agencies and individuals serving forcibly displaced people. The RHP is creating and sustaining a community that helps facilitate more effective ministry, stimulate strategic initiatives, and envision and equip the church so that refugee ministries are strengthened and more refugees are served. RHP Global is represented by regional representatives facilitating global initiatives.” (from its website)
RFI seeks to improve religious liberty for Christians, as well as those of other faiths (it’s a multi-faith approach). Its goal is “working to secure religious freedom for everyone, everywhere.” According to its mission, “[t]he Religious Freedom Institute is committed to achieving broad acceptance of religious liberty as a fundamental human right, the cornerstone of a successful society, and a source of national and international security.” (all quotes from its site). Advocacy includes education, assisting in legislation, and amicus curiae briefs in courts. It runs the National Center for Religious Freedom Education (NCRFE), as a key educational initiative, with internships.
The Institute’s mission is twofold: to provide legal services in the defense of religious and civil liberties and to educate the public on important issues affecting their constitutional freedoms. It has many legal briefs and resources, and has been serving in this area for decades.
The Ruth Institute is highly dedicated to Education and Advocacy, especially for safeguarding the protection of traditional, biblical, marriage and families, supporting life issues, and combating the ruthless onslaught of warped transgender and sexual identity. This strong advocacy group has internationally useful ideas. It keeps a high Catholic intellectual base but is useful for evangelicals and other denominations. (See also in SCITTS.)
“The Samaritan’s Purse represents a global humanitarian organization dedicated to providing aid to people in need around the world. Rooted in Christian faith, Samaritan’s Purse delivers emergency relief, medical care, clean water, and other essential services to victims of natural disasters, war, poverty, and disease.” The website serves as a vital resource for learning about their mission, current relief efforts, and volunteer opportunities. It also invites donations and support to help bring hope and practical assistance to individuals and communities facing crises, demonstrating compassion and love in action.
A global intercessory prayer, leadership, and cultural change network focusing on seven spheres of society (including government, law and justice).
Indonesian branch affiliated with Transform World, above, connecting about 5,000 churches in Indonesia. A newsletter is available, Transform Life Indonesia. It is involved in social and cultural Christlike changes in Indonesia.
It is not a specifically Christian organization, but provides lots of helpful information. It is also known as “the global coalition against corruption.” “From villages in rural India to the corridors of power in Brussels, Transparency International gives voice to the victims and witnesses of corruption. We work together with governments, businesses and citizens to stop the abuse of power, bribery and secret deals. As a global movement with one vision, we want a world free of corruption. Through chapters in more than 100 countries and an international secretariat in Berlin, we are leading the fight against corruption to turn this vision into reality.” TI is famous for its Transparency Index and its rankings of nations for corruption.
“Unashamedly Ethical is a global movement of individuals and organizations guided by a founding vision to transform society by taking a stand for ethics, values and clean living. The goal of this movement is to develop an unashamedly ethical culture among this generation of leaders and the next.” Their vision is “Transforming Leaders|Transforming Nations.” (from its website).
Its mission is, “Serving persecuted Christians through practical and spiritual assistance, and leading other members of the body of Christ into fellowship with them.” (from its website). This is truly a global organization serving the persecuted Body of Christ.
“The purpose of the center is to help equip the global evangelical community–individuals, churches, and ministries–to actively care for creation as part of Christian discipleship and the calling God gives us to be agents of God’s shalom in the world. [They work also] with the United Nations, and other global bodies concerned with creation care . . . [on] Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)/ 2030 Agenda . . . The WEASC will use its platform to engage with international organizations, governments and like-minded NGOs to help connect and leverage the capacities of evangelical creation care organizations for greater impact at national and global levels.” (from its website). When working with the UN, an advocate is bound to encounter mixed ideologies – often very unbiblical ones – and s/he should be aware of that in this connection.
The World Evangelical Alliance’s Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC) [part of its Religious Freedom Advocacy department.] is dedicated to defending and promoting religious freedom worldwide. As part of the broader WEA network, it focuses on monitoring religious liberty violations, advocating for those persecuted for their faith, and engaging with governments and international bodies to uphold this fundamental human right. It provides resources such as reports, news updates, and legal analysis to inform and equip individuals and organizations committed to safeguarding religious freedom. “The World Justice Project® (WJP) is an independent, multidisciplinary organization working to advance the rule of law worldwide. Effective rule of law reduces corruption, combats poverty and disease, and protects people from injustices large and small. It is the foundation for communities of justice, opportunity, and peace—underpinning development, accountable government, and respect for fundamental rights.” (from its website).
It has a great history of doing humanitarian aid and disaster relief along with sustainable development efforts around the globe. It also does considerable work with refugees, immigration, asylum, and migrant labor, addressing injustices with real attorneys and other staff. It works toward, “overcoming violence, poverty, and injustice through love in action.” (from its website).
World Vision is involved in various legal, human rights protection efforts to stop child labor and violence against women (including trafficking). It has drafted standards and works in an interdisciplinary way in its advocacy against such abuses (see the “Our Work” tab on its site).

In addition to serving as the largest network of Christian lawyers in the US and its educational and legal aid programs, CLS, through its Center for Law & Religious Freedom, vigorously defends rights of free exercise of religion, speech, and association in the US Constitutional context. This includes protecting academic freedom of belief for students and academicians. The Center also works to protect human life and the Christian view of marriage and family from secularists’ assaults. See its other work on legal aid.
CLS’ Legal Aid Program is a national public ministry providing advice and limited assistance for many of the legal and spiritual needs of the poor, in cooperation with Christian churches and faith-based social service providers.
LCF helps equip its lawyers to handle a number of advocacy issues, such as religious liberty and other concerns of the Church, working primarily in the UK and East Africa. Some resources may exist on marriage, family, and life issues. Its work on access to justice for the poor in Africa is growing with its Justice and Missions Teams program in that area.
This is the advocacy and legal assistance arm, associated with The Christian Institute, which exists for “the furtherance and promotion of the Christian religion in the United Kingdom . . . ” The focus in advocacy and legal assistance for those facing oppression and discrimination for those living out their Chrisitan faith and beliefs. “The Sudreau Global Justice Program touches all corners of the globe through its initiatives in international human rights and religious freedom, advancement of the rule of law, and global development. We equip our students with the knowledge, experience and relationships necessary to pursue careers that seek justice and create a lasting impact for the world’s most vulnerable people.” (from its website). A big target of its work is Africa (Uganda, Ghana, etc.), and they are expanding into Asia.
Regent University School of Law has stepped forward to equip Christian advocates to promote the rule of law and seek justice for the world’s downtrodden—the poor, the oppressed, and the enslaved—and to serve and support those already engaged in such advocacy. To fulfill its mission, the program provides academic training and internship opportunities for students to serve in other countries.
The Center for Human Rights is a research, education, and advocacy center for the promotion and protection of international human rights. Along with several human rights courses at Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, the Center sponsors international courses in Europe and Cambodia. It has also run prayer ministries, International Prayer Connect (IPC) and International Prayer Council (IPC).
